Job summary

FieldAI is seeking a Sensor Systems Engineer to support design, integration, calibration, and validation of sensing systems on wheeled robotic platforms for federal and commercial programs. You will work across multiple sensor modalities to deliver synchronized, spatially consistent data in challenging environments.

You will collaborate with autonomy, compute, electrical, and mechanical teams to build tightly integrated solutions ready for deployment.

Qualifications

• Education as stated: B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, or related field.
• Hands-on sensors experience with LiDARs, depth cameras, IMUs, GPS, etc.
• Experience across electrical, mechanical, and software teams.
• Strong foundation in optics, signal processing, and EM wave propagation.

Responsibilities

• Design sensor system architecture across hardware and software teams.
• Integrate sensors with electrical, mechanical, and software systems; ensure power, thermal, and protocol compatibility.
• Calibrate intrinsic and extrinsic sensors; develop alignment rigs and calibration boards.
• Monitor and validate sensor system performance in real-world conditions.
