Planted is hiring a Field Robotics Engineer in Oakland, CA to ensure reliability of robotic installation machines at utility-scale solar projects. You will lead field data collection, diagnose issues, and support onsite operations including operator training and logistics.

This role bridges R&D and project operations with strong autonomy. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in field roles, willingness to travel 75%, and hands-on experience with outdoor, fast-paced environments.

• 2+ years of experience, including field experience.
• Willingness to travel up to 75% with weeklong stays.
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability and uptime of deployed robotic systems by monitoring field performance and fixing issues on-site.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of the robot fleet and use results to improve operations.
• Operate, maintain, and enhance field testing tools and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver updates that improve performance and installation success.
• Keep technical documentation and training procedures up to date.
• Provide structured training to external partners for safe use of machines.
• Build detailed project schedules reflecting field performance and milestones.
• Represent the company when engaging with external partners and customers.
