Planted is hiring a hands-on engineer to design machines, robots, and structures as part of the R&D team in Oakland. You will lead the design cycle from concept ideation through first build and work with a cross-functional group of engineers to push toward 100% clean energy.

The role offers a salary range of $125,000–$165,000 plus stock and benefits, with a target of 5+ years experience and a strong emphasis on problem-solving in a startup setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar required.
• Experience in industry with structural or mechanical analysis required.
• Hands-on aptitude with ability to troubleshoot and iterate designs.

Responsibilities

• Ideate novel solutions from system level to part design.
• Design and develop automated equipment and mechanical structures.
• Own design projects from conception through assembly and delivery.
• Develop system-level requirements and inform product architecture.
• Perform structural and mechanical analyses to validate designs.
• Oversee hardware through testing and deployment.
• Develop and track project schedules.
