Planted Solar in Oakland, CA is seeking a pragmatic technical leader to build and scale the software organization at the center of transforming energy hardware and software. You will own architecture, roadmap, and the team to support the company’s growth from robotics to AI-driven design and operations tools.

The role requires deep full-stack expertise with hardware integration, a track record shipping robotics at scale, and leadership across cloud, data, and AI teams.

Qualifications

• 10–15+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership of teams shipping production systems.
• Deep expertise in full-stack development with hardware integration like robotics, IoT, or industrial automation.
• Proven track record shipping robotics/software into the field at scale with emphasis on reliability and observability.
• Broad leadership across platform and full-stack teams, cloud data systems, or applied AI/ML groups.

Responsibilities

• Lead and scale a multi-disciplinary software organization with engineering managers, principal engineers, and system architects.
• Own the software roadmap and ensure on-time delivery of complex multi-system projects.
• Oversee software across core platforms: Power Planter, Build View, and Operate View.
• Drive edge compute, latency, and hardware-in-the-loop testing for robotics stacks.
• Collaborate with Commercial, Hardware Engineering, and Operations to align priorities.
