Job summary

RK&K is hiring an experienced Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in and around Charlotte, NC. The Construction Inspector will conduct field inspections for a wide range of Transportation, Highways and Structural construction projects in the heavy civil industry.

Essential duties include field inspections, documenting results, reviewing drawings for inspection readiness, and coordinating with supervisors on contract administration.

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of roadway inspection experience for highway construction methods, materials, standards and specifications.
• Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate materials and processes meet plans, specs and provisions.
• Multitask management of project assignments.
• Conduct field inspections and document work using mobile devices as required in North Carolina.
• Review drawings to understand the design and prepare for inspections.
• Document inspection results and communicate to supervisor; establish quantities for pay item documentation and other contract admin tasks.
• Inspect work zones for traffic control, erosion control devices, utility coordination and right-of-way issues.
