Job summary

RK&K seeks an experienced Construction Inspector to join our CEI team around Charlotte, NC. The inspector will conduct field inspections for transportation, highways and structural construction projects in the heavy civil industry.

Responsibilities include documenting results, reviewing drawings, and ensuring adherence to plans and specifications while coordinating with stakeholders. This role requires driving, physical capability, and multitasking in a dynamic field setting.

Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of roadway inspection experience for highway construction methods, materials, standards and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if materials and construction processes are used correctly and conform to plans, specs, and special provisions.
• Multitask management of project assignments.
• Conduct field inspections.
• Document work using mobile devices as required in North Carolina.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection and understand the construction design.
• Document inspection results and communicate to the supervisor.
• Conduct field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation and other contract administration documentation.
• Inspect work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, utility coordination and right-of-way issue resolution.
