Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a field inspector to support transportation construction projects at multiple locations. The role focuses on inspection of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, and materials under direct supervision, with emphasis on quality control procedures.

You will review daily reports, verify material testing, and may perform sampling and in-place testing as needed. Domestic or international travel may be required; a valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity (ACI/NICET) in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials under direct supervision.
• Review and recommend acceptance or rejection of daily contractor reports and verify QC procedures.
• Review material testing procedures and results for conformance to contract and measure quantities of materials placed; may perform sampling and in-place testing.
