Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an inspector to perform basic to moderate inspections of transportation infrastructure, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and special provisions. You will read drawings, review documentation, and plan inspections, while communicating results to project supervisors and coordinating with the team.

The role requires a High School diploma or equivalent, valid driver’s license, and 2 years of related experience, with travel up to 40%.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certifications from ACI/NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by client/jurisdiction.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. Equivalent additional directly related experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Inspections of transportation infrastructure to verify materials and construction conform to plans and specs.
• Use industry gauges and calculations to perform inspections.
• Review related inspection documentation (drawings, specs, plans).
• Plan basic complexity inspection projects after reviewing drawings.
• Develop inspection assignments for other inspectors.
• Conduct basic field measurements for pay item documentation and other contract records.
