Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site Field Inspector to support transportation construction projects across multiple locations. The role involves direct supervision of inspection activities, review of contractor daily reports, and verification of quality control procedures.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, relevant certifications when required, and at least two years of related experience. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel domestically or internationally are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or national entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Determine the acceptability of the day-to-day work performed by the contractor and review daily reports.
• May be required to perform sampling and in‑place testing of soil, aggregate base, concrete, and asphalt pavement.
