Job summary

Ames Construction, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician to oversee field-level testing, inspection, and documentation on active job sites in West Virginia. You will work directly with the Quality Control Manager to ensure all activities meet contract specifications and codes.

Responsibilities include documenting QC activities, coordinating with engineers, and maintaining logs. The role requires outdoor work, safety adherence, and the ability to operate QC software on site.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years in construction quality control or related field.
• Knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO testing standards for soils, concrete and aggregates.
• Strong written documentation and reporting skills.
• Proficiency with QC software/documentation systems (QCS, Procore or similar).
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Document daily QC activities, test results, and NCRs
• Verify materials and workmanship comply with contract plans and specifications
• Coordinate with project engineers and superintendents to identify and resolve quality issues in the field
• Maintain accurate QC logs, submittals, and inspection reports for project records and closeout
• Support internal and external audits, including owner and regulatory inspections
• Assist with development and implementation of the project Quality Control Plan (QCP)
