Job summary

Ames Construction, Inc. is seeking a Quality Control Technician to support field testing, inspection, and documentation on our heavy civil construction projects.

You will work directly with the Quality Control Manager on site to verify materials meet contract plans and applicable codes. Daily tasks include maintaining QC logs, preparing NCRs, and coordinating with project engineers to resolve issues while complying with safety protocols on active job sites.

Qualifications

• 2-4 years in construction quality control or related field
• Familiar with ASTM/AASHTO testing standards for soils, concrete, and aggregates
• Strong written documentation and reporting skills
• Proficiency with QC software/documentation systems (QCS, Procore, or similar)

Responsibilities

• Document daily QC activities, test results, and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
• Verify materials and workmanship comply with contract plans and specifications prior to and during installation
• Coordinate with project engineers and superintendents to identify and resolve quality issues in the field
• Maintain accurate QC logs, submittals, and inspection reports for project records and closeout
• Support internal and external audits, including owner and regulatory inspections
• Assist with development and implementation of the project Quality Control Plan (QCP)
