Job summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Quality Control Technician to perform field-level testing, inspection, and documentation to ensure construction activities meet contract specs and quality standards. You will work with the Quality Control Manager on site.

Responsibilities include documenting daily QC activities, verifying materials, coordinating with project engineers, maintaining logs, and supporting audits. This role requires outdoor work and adherence to safety protocols on active job sites

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in construction quality control, materials testing, or related field role.
  • Working knowledge of ASTM/AASHTO testing standards for soils, concrete, and aggregates.
  • Strong written documentation and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency with QC software/documentation systems such as QCS or Procore.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Support internal and external audits, including owner and regulatory inspections.
  • Track and report non-conforming work items through resolution.
  • Assist with development and implementation of the project Quality Control Plan (QCP).

Working Conditions
  • Travel can be required with this position within the United States. This project is located in Pt. Pleasant, West Virginia. Subsequent projects will be nationally based.
  • Work is performed on active construction job sites, including highways, roadways, and heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust.
  • Position requires walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting in a construction environment.
  • Frequent interaction with heavy equipment, moving machinery, traffic, and construction hazards; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all job sites.
  • Work is additionally done in an office environment – extensive sitting at desk and computer; some standing, bending at the waist, stooping and reaching required; ability to lift 5-20 pounds occasionally.
