Job summary

AFICS American Family Insurance Claims Services, Inc. in Cedar Rapids/Iowa City area seeks a field-based Property Claims Adjuster. You will work largely in the field (80%) handling homeowner claims, visiting insured locations, and interacting with customers to process and negotiate settlements. Occasional office visits may be required for meetings and trainings. A company fleet vehicle is provided, with potential personal use, and relocation support is offered where eligible.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions or service.
• Experience handling first- and third-party multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Experience handling moderately complex claims.
• Solid knowledge of casualty coverages and endorsements.
• Knowledge of all phases of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections when needed and evaluate damages.
• Negotiate claims with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and adjusters.
• Handle both 1st and 3rd party claims across multiple policy types.
• Respond to inquiries and communicate claim status to all parties.
• Interpret policies, endorsements, and contract coverages for assigned losses.
• Provide timely updates and guidance to customers throughout the process.
• May participate in additional assignments or projects based on skills.
