Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a field-based Property Claim professional in the Chicagoland area. You will report to the Property Claim Manager and handle homeowner property field claims with 80% time in the field and 50% travel.

The role involves on-site inspections, claim negotiations, policy interpretation, and providing customer-focused service across multiple policy types, with a company vehicle provided for use.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support, or service.
• Demonstrated experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across operating territories.
• Demonstrated experience handling moderately complex claims, or other equivalent experience.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of policies and endorsements related to casualty coverages.
• Solid knowledge and understanding of each phase of the claim handling process.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, and others.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed; handles claims in good faith.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, and negotiates claims with insureds or attorneys.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files as appropriate.
• Interprets policies and endorsements and applies them to assigned losses.
• Keeps all parties informed about claim process and status; answers questions.
• May participate in other assignments or projects based on skills and experience.
