Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a homeowner property field claims professional in the Chicagoland area. You will spend 80% of time in the field, with a company fleet vehicle provided and personal-use option.

Reporting to the Property Claim Manager, you will handle 1st and 3rd party claims across multiple policy types, conduct on-site inspections, negotiate settlements, and keep customers informed on claim status and processes. Travel up to 50% may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience handling 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims.
• Solid knowledge of casualty coverages and endorsements.
• Proven experience with the claims handling process.
• Familiarity with Xactimate is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, and others.
• Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party claims under multiple policy types and endorsements.
• Conducts on-site inspections when needed, evaluates damages, and negotiates with insureds, claimants, attorneys, and public adjusters.
• Responds to customer inquiries and provides claim status and process explanations.
• May be assigned other tasks based on skills and experience.
