Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an Engineer III or Senior Engineer for field-based work, primarily at Duke Energy Plaza in Charlotte, NC, with consideration for other NC locations. The role leads technical activities across solar, Battery Energy Storage, and related projects, reporting to project sites and coordinating with project teams.

Candidates should have a BS in engineering (ABET-accredited) or PE; 4–6+ years of experience. Travel up to 25–50% is expected and a relocation package may be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program or PE license.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience for Engineer III; 5 years with PE or 6 years without PE for Senior Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering/technical expertise and guidance on problems of increasing scope.
• Contributes to team decision-making through planning, estimating, scheduling and monitoring.
• Deals with changing priorities and differing situations affecting the team.
• Prepares technical reports, calculations and sketches for well-defined problems.
• Conducts engineering studies and completes routine projects with increasing independence.
• Develops positive working relationships to coordinate work activities.
• Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Maintains accurate records and files and supports company goals.
