Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an experienced engineer to support the technical evaluation and AVL approval of BESS equipment for future energy storage projects. You will engage with cross‑functional teams, perform design and power system analyses, and help ensure successful project delivery.

The role requires collaboration with Supply Chain, RRE, and PMC, with travel to supplier facilities. A PE license and 8+ years of experience are preferred, and a hybrid work arrangement is available after

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program; Master’s considered in lieu of BS.
• Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer registration required.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support on BESS AVL and equipment approvals.
• Support factory visits and FAT of BESS equipment.
• Collaborate with RRE, PMC, Supply Chain, and other teams on AVL and project design.
• Perform power system analyses, protective studies, and design calculations for front‑of‑the‑meter storage projects.
• Develop optimization tools for Duke Energy energy storage and microgrid projects.
• Travel to supplier facilities domestically and internationally as needed.
