Job summary

Duke Energy, based in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an Engineer III or Senior Engineer to lead technical aspects of project planning and execution for solar, BESS, and related assets. The role is field-based, requiring regular site visits and coordination with internal teams and external partners.

Ideal candidates hold an ABET-accredited engineering degree (or PE) with 4+ years for Engineer III and 5–6 years with/without PE for Senior Engineer, and must be willing to travel across project sites up

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or state PE).
• Master's degree in engineering can be considered in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant engineering experience (Engineer III).
• Minimum 5 years with state PE OR 6 years without PE (Senior Engineer).

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering/technical guidance in problems of increasing scope and complexity.
• Contributes to team decision-making through planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring work.
• Prepares technical reports, correspondence, calculations and sketches for well-defined problems.
• Conducts engineering studies and supports project execution from development through turnover.
• Coordinates with field teams; travels to project sites as needed.
