Job summary

Hayward Lumber, a century-old lumber supplier in Salinas, CA, seeks an Outside Sales Representative to grow lumber and building-material sales. You will identify opportunities, prepare quotes, advise on materials and pricing, and visit job sites to ensure timely delivery and satisfaction for builders and contractors.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in sales, knowledge of building materials, and strong communication and negotiation skills to meet sales targets in a customer-focused role.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years' sales experience in construction or commercial projects.
• Some knowledge of building materials, processes, and local codes.
• Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with existing and potential customers to secure bids and quotes.
• Maintain accurate sales and order pipelines in BisTrack.
• Prepare and present accurate sales proposals and quotes.
• Maximize sales in the current market areas.
• Provide knowledgeable, courteous, and prompt service at all times.
• Research materials and pricing, and advise on applications and specs.
• Visit job sites to ensure delivery and timely completion.
• Coordinate deliveries and pickups with yard staff.
• Represent the company at events and functions.
• Track progress of customer projects and monitor milestones.
