Job summary

Lumos is hiring an OSP Construction Project Engineer to expand our fiber network and deliver reliable connectivity. You will oversee contractor performance, drive multiple projects safely, on schedule, and within budget, from field readiness through closeout.

This field-based role requires onsite work across Cook County and travel between active jobsites. You will coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Permitting, and Supply Chain, ensure OSHA/NESC compliance, and manage production, costs,

Qualifications

• Relevant degree or equivalent experience in construction management, engineering, telecom, or related field.
• Experience overseeing OSP or fiber construction and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA/NESC requirements and field safety standards.
• Proven ability to coordinate with contractors, utilities, and municipalities.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple OSP builds from readiness to closeout across the market.
• Set expectations for contractors and subcontractors on safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
• Track production, schedules, costs, risks, and field progress; provide timely updates to stakeholders.
• Inspect active jobsites to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
• Coordinate permitting, materials, utilities, and other field dependencies.
• Resolve field roadblocks professionally and drive project momentum.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Permitting, and Supply Chain to improve planning and scaling.
