Job summary

Lumos Fiber is seeking an OSP Construction Project Engineer to lead multiple fiber builds across the Cook County, IL market. The role manages contractor performance, field challenges, and project budgets from readiness to closeout, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Must reside within 1 hour of Cook County, IL and be willing to travel between active jobsites. A strong background in FTTH/fiber construction and project management is essential to succeed in this field-based, on-site

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, telecommunications, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in OSP construction, telecommunications engineering, network deployment, or related field operations.
• Experience with FTTH, fiber broadband, or utility construction.
• Experience coordinating with municipalities and utilities.

Responsibilities

• Own multiple OSP builds across the market from construction readiness through closeout.
• Set clear expectations for contractors and subcontractors, holding teams accountable for safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
• Track production, schedules, costs, risks, and field progress, with timely updates to stakeholders.
• Inspect active jobsites and ensure work meets OSHA, NESC, Lumos standards.
• Coordinate permitting, materials, utilities, municipalities, and other field dependencies.
• Resolve field roadblocks and community concerns quickly and professionally.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Permitting, and Supply Chain to improve Lumos plans.
