Job summary

Louisville Gas and Electric Company seeks a Network Technician C to learn and assist in construction, repair and maintenance of underground and overhead electrical distribution systems. You will work with technicians, use tools like voltmeters and ammeters, and train under supervision while maintaining safety and reporting requirements.

Expect field assignments around Louisville, with exposure to energized conductors and after-hours call-ins to gain experience toward higher classifications.

Qualifications

• Must meet Federal, State and Municipal regulations applicable to this position.
• Must be able to speak, understand, read and write English; follow written and oral instructions.
• Must have a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
• Willingness to work inside and outside under varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to communicate through verbal and written reports and advance to higher classifications.
• Must be able to learn to use tools and equipment required in the work.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules, procedures and practices.
• Assist and/or direct training of other employees in operating procedures.
• Report to assigned locations for training and participate actively.
• Demonstrate competency in duties and training programs as prescribed.
• Keep equipment, tools and work areas clean and orderly.
• Perform duties of lower or higher classifications when needed.
• Represent the company with safety, conduct and attitude.
• Assist in installation, removal and maintenance of lines and devices.
• Learn to take measurements with voltmeters and ammeters.
• Work near energized conductors and respond to calls for off-hour trouble response.
