Job summary

Louisville Gas and Electric Company and Kentucky Utilities Company seek a line technician to support overhead and underground construction and maintenance. The candidate must be able to climb poles, install conductors, and follow safety rules.

Applicants should have a High School diploma or equivalent and at least six months of line experience; Formal line training is preferred. A valid CDL Class B with air brakes endorsement is required.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six months experience with line construction and maintenance.
• Formal line technician training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Use standards to perform maintenance and general construction in overhead and underground work.
• Proficient in climbing and handling self on a utility pole.
• Basic knowledge in installing conductors overhead and underground.
• Familiar with grounding procedures for circuits.
• Proficient with bucket and derrick trucks and safety procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge and application of company safety rules and procedures.
• Care for equipment, tools and rope; patrol lines as needed.
• Know lines and equipment and conduct necessary patrols.
• Care for live line tools and storage of protective equipment.
