Job summary

American Electric Power (AEP) is seeking a Network Mechanic D to join our Grandview Service Center in Columbus, OH. The role covers installation, maintenance and inspection of underground transmission and distribution facilities, and operating line trucks and related equipment.

During the first six months you will learn to operate equipment in enclosed spaces, with progression to energized work up to 260 volts, barricade setup, and safety procedures. Overnight travel and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required; line work experience preferred.
• Must obtain CDL beginner permit within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, maintenance, and inspection of URD facilities.
• Operate line trucks and related equipment under supervision.
• Set up barricades and perform safety checks in enclosed spaces.
• Learn protective equipment use and color identification tests.
