Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. is seeking a Mobile Technician II to perform intermediate service and repair of tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. Work is conducted outside of the shop at customer sites or rail yards using a mobile service truck.

The role involves preventive maintenance, repairs, diagnostic work, and hands-on training of trainees while adhering to safety and quality standards. Strong outdoor work tolerance is required.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs with 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair
• Ability to supply your own basic tools or purchase through toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
• Properly operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory
• Assist with onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
• Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
• Document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
• Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment for mid-level repairs
• Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision
