Job summary

PPL Electric Utilities, based in the Lehigh Service Center, is seeking a Meter Technician to install, inspect, and maintain metering equipment and AMI systems. The role involves field testing, data recording for billing, and coordination with contractors to ensure timely service deliveries.

The position supports the utility's modern grid initiatives, requires union membership, and offers a starting hourly rate of $56.173. Must be able to work from ladders or at heights as needed.

Qualifications

• 2-year degree in electronics/ electrical engineering technology from an accredited program.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and meter programming software.
• Valid driver's license and CDL medical certification for operation of vehicles up to 17,500 pounds.
• Must pass EEI CAST test or replacement.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, test and verify electric meters and metering systems.
• Perform PUC accuracy tests in the field for billing accuracy.
• Record meter data for billing and inventory and ensure proper documentation.
• Coordinate outages and work with contractors and crews for metering work.
• Maintain meter and instrument transformer inventory for the region.
