Job summary

Ameren Illinois is seeking a Meter Technician to support residential and commercial electric meters and gas meters. You will respond to alarms, replace meters, and install AMI meters and gas modules as needed.

The role covers routine meter exchanges, regulator checks, and leak testing, with non-pay door knocks and service disconnections when required. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver's license, and a technical degree or related training for OQ

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
Valid driver license required.
Associate's degree in a technical discipline preferred or 8 hours of technical math coursework.
Must pass company-sponsored training to become OQ certified.

Responsibilities

Respond to alarms and replace meters/modules as needed.
Install electric AMI meters and gas modules when deployment vendor cannot complete.
Perform routine electric and gas meter exchanges and AMI gas module exchanges.
Conduct gas regulator pressure checks and leak detection during installations.
Perform non-pay door knocks and execute disconnections/reconnections as needed.
Identify potential diversion, tampering and theft of service and relight gas appliances when required.
