Job summary

California Water Service Group is seeking a Meter Specialist in San Mateo, CA. The role involves testing, repairing, and calibrating large water meters (3” and larger) and maintaining meter-related records.

You will work outside the home district, including overnight stays, and perform duties on site at the assigned location. Essential duties include meter diagnostics, calibration, valve operation, inventory management, and reporting using maintenance software.

Qualifications

• The MS must be able to effectively communicate with their supervisor, co-workers and the public.
• The MS must have an understanding and knowledge of meter functions, diagnostics, installation, and repair procedures to replace, repair, or troubleshoot meter and meter reading technology problems.
• A California State Water Distribution Operator II certification is required.
• The MS must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Test, repair, and calibrate large water meters (3” and larger) for accuracy.
• Inspect vaults and bypasses; maintain meter parts inventory.
• Prepare reporting of work completed and maintain maintenance records.
• Operate valves to isolate, inspect, test, and repair meters.
