Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Consolidated Collector – Reader to join the Meter Reading Department at the Marshall Operations Center in Minneapolis, MN. The role involves reading meters, both traditional and van-based, and conducting collections while ensuring safe operation of the assigned vehicle.

We offer full-time benefits with a starting pay of $29.59 per hour and require the ability to work outside most of the time, including after hours and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must have good communication and teamwork skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Must be able to read and follow maps.
• Must be able to walk for extended periods of time through various terrain.
• Requires participation in after-hour emergency callouts in variable weather conditions.
• Must be committed to working safely and in compliance with all company safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Read and enter electric and gas meter readings for residential and commercial accounts.
• Perform traditional or van-based meter reading, driving a company van and collecting readings.
• Operate the van safely in varying weather conditions and report maintenance needs.
• Disconnect and/or reconnect electric services and disconnect gas services as required for collections.
• Collect delinquent accounts and verify billing details; provide information on energy assistance.
