Cardiovascular Utilization Management Reviewer (Interventional Cardiologist)

Join our Utilization Management team as a Field Medical Director, Cardiovascular Specialist, leveraging your interventional cardiology expertise to ensure high-value, evidence-based case reviews. Responsibilities

• Provide expert reviews for cardiovascular cases, including invasive/interventional procedures (e.g., cardiac catheterizations, coronary interventions, endovascular procedures, implantable devices) that do not initially meet medical necessity guidelines or require further review.
• Engage in peer-to-peer discussions with providers to ensure appropriate, high-value care aligned with clinical guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership and clinical staff to resolve complex cases and support decision-making.
• Guide Initial Clinical Reviewers, sharing expertise to uphold best practices.
• Provide clinical rationale during appeals.
• Discuss determinations with requesting physicians within regulatory timeframes.
• Use medical review guidelines to ensure consistency, compliance with policies, URAC, and NCQA standards.
• Document all communications accurately and timely.
• Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance processes.
• Assist the Senior Medical Director with research and system support activities.
• Potentially serve as Medical Director for specific regions or health plans, overseeing utilization management.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS with current, unrestricted license.
• Board certification in Interventional Cardiology or equivalent credentials.
• Active medical licenses in your state and others as required.
• Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in cardiology preferred.
• No exclusions or sanctions by health programs or legal actions by medical boards.

Technical Requirements

Reliable high-speed internet (>10 Mbps) and direct connection to your home router are required. These requirements may change with office re-openings.
