The CareCoach Connect Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs a variety of healthcare activities in coordination with Physicians or Advanced Practice Clinicians in support of patient care. These include, but are not limited to, taking vitals, administering injections, diagnostic testing, phlebotomy, quality surveys, and assisting in documentation where appropriate. The CMA will deliver exceptional customer service and maintain established quality control standards. This position is field-based and involves seeing patients in their homes, virtual settings, and other community locations.

The Certified Medical Assistant is required to perform all duties within their scope of practice, delegated by and under the supervision of a provider (TX) or physician (FL).

Responsibilities include organizing the clinical environment, supporting patient care, assisting physicians and nursing personnel, and communicating patient needs to the team. The CMA ensures policy adherence, including infection control, privacy, and confidentiality.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform duties within the scope of a Certified Medical Assistant, including provider-supervised procedures, injections, diagnostic testing, and phlebotomy.
  • Coordinate healthcare screening results as directed by providers and policies.
  • Travel with providers to support community-based services.
  • Complete health screenings and process documents accurately.
  • Document patient care in medical records promptly and accurately.
  • Review medical information and test results to ensure completeness.
  • Manage supplies, inventory, and equipment maintenance.
  • Present abnormal results to providers promptly.
  • Prepare charts for post-visit documentation and follow-up.
  • Assist with consent forms and ensure proper documentation.
  • Follow up on referrals and post-visit recommendations.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with policies.
  • Maintain certifications and quality standards.
  • Support team coordination and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and assist with wound care and specimen collection under supervision.
  • Ensure referrals are entered and followed up appropriately.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Current, recognized Medical Assistant certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
  • Current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies and lead until higher-level help arrives.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Ability to travel frequently within the assigned area.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Compliance with health screening and immunization requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Over 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or equivalent combined experience.
  • Experience in a medical setting.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical & Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Fine motor skills for operating equipment.
  • Ability to receive instructions and solve problems logically.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids occasionally.
