Colonial Group in Texas City is seeking a skilled Terminals/Pipeline Mechanical Technician. You will troubleshoot, repair, overhaul, maintain, and replace mechanical equipment in industrial settings, with a strong emphasis on safety and hands-on technical work.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 3+ years in mechanical work (energy sector preferred), and a valid driver’s license. Travel and safety committee participation are common aspects of this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, or G.E.D. equivalent, is required.
• Graduation from a technical trade school and/or completion of an apprenticeship, certification or associate degree program is preferred.
• 3+ years of mechanical experience is required, preferably in energy related industry.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• General knowledge of USCG/BSEE/DOT regulations is preferred.
• A strong commitment to personal and job safety is required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills is required.Willingness to improve on troubleshooting and maintenance skills is required.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in and around industrial and electrical equipment is required.
• Ability to work in temperature extremes due to weather conditions and operating equipment is required.
• Ability to use physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment and tools is required.
• Ability to climb and work at various heights and work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position is required.
• Ability to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to higher levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50 lbs, manually transport a load up to 75 lbs, apply up to 100 foot pounds of torque is required.
• Willingness to work overtime as required.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in daily and monthly safety meetings.
• Serve as a member of safety committees and/or investigation teams as needed.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair engines, compressors, pumps, motors and associated components.
• Install mechanical seals for centrifugal equipment and related components.
• Repair other mechanical process or facility equipment as needed.
• Plan and assist with maintenance, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment.
• Interact with vendors to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
• Coordinate with supervision, engineering and management when required.
• Provide training and technical support as required.
• Ability to travel out of town for work assignments with overnight stays as needed.
