Job summary

JDS Energy & Mining Inc. seeks an experienced Mechanical Superintendent for site-based FIFO roles to oversee mechanical construction activities, supervise subcontractors, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence on mining and industrial projects.

The role involves coordination with project and engineering teams, reviewing drawings and codes (ASME, CSA, API), and driving QA/QC turnover packages. Candidates should lead by example, manage field hazards, and foster a culture of zero harm

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise mechanical subcontractors during installation of equipment, pumps, tanks, and process infrastructure
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (ASME, CSA, API)
• Monitor progress and ensure schedule milestones are met without compromising safety or quality
• Oversee installation of mine process systems including pump stations, slurry and water systems, flotation circuits, thickeners, and grinding mills
• Conduct inspections and testing including alignment, torqueing, and installation verification
• Verify installation quality and adherence to scope
• Ensure QA/QC documentation and turnover packages are completed and submitted
• Enforce site safety policies and participate in audits, toolbox talks, and investigations
• Identify and mitigate field hazards related to lifting, rigging, pressure systems, and stored energy
• Promote a strong safety culture across all crews
• Interface with superintendents, construction managers, and engineering teams to resolve field issues
• Support planning, material tracking, and commissioning activities
• Communicate progress updates and highlight risks impacting execution
