Job summary

JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent for site-based FIFO roles to oversee field execution of mechanical construction activities, supervise contractors, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence across processing facilities.

The role integrates with project and engineering teams to manage equipment, pumps, tanks, and process systems while maintaining compliance with ASME, CSA, and API standards on site.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising mechanical subcontractors on heavy industry projects.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specs and applicable codes (ASME, CSA, API).
• Ability to monitor progress, maintain schedule milestones and uphold safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise mechanical subcontractors during installation of equipment, pumps, tanks, and process infrastructure.
• Verify installation quality and adherence to scope, including QA/QC documentation and turnover packages.
• Promote safety practices, conduct toolbox talks, and mitigate field hazards.
• Coordinate with superintendents, construction managers, and engineering teams to resolve field issues and support planning.

About The Role

JDS Energy & Mining is seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to support mining and industrial projects. This is a site-based FIFO role responsible for the field execution and oversight of all mechanical construction activities, including contractor supervision, quality assurance, safety compliance, and coordination with project and engineering teams to meet schedule and budget objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Field Supervision

• Lead and supervise mechanical subcontractors during installation of equipment, pumps, tanks, and process infrastructure
• Ensure work is completed in accordance with drawings, specifications, and applicable codes (ASME, CSA, API)
• Monitor progress and ensure schedule milestones are met without compromising safety or quality
• Oversee installation of mine process systems including pump stations, slurry and water systems, flotation circuits, thickeners, and grinding mills

Quality & Compliance

• Conduct inspections and testing including alignment, torqueing, and installation verification
• Verify installation quality and adherence to scope
• Ensure QA/QC documentation and turnover packages are completed and submitted

Safety Leadership

• Enforce site safety policies and participate in audits, toolbox talks, and investigations
• Identify and mitigate field hazards related to lifting, rigging, pressure systems, and stored energy
• Promote a strong safety culture across all crews

Coordination

• Interface with superintendents, construction managers, and engineering teams to resolve field issues
• Support planning, material tracking, and commissioning activities
• Communicate progress updates and highlight risks impacting execution
