Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Construction Materials Technician to perform field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt. You will transport samples, document results, and support QA across projects while maintaining a strong safety focus.

The role requires 2+ years of experience, plan-reading skills, and a valid driver’s license. This permanent role is based out of Dallas, TX, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 2 years of construction materials testing experience.
• Experience with soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Certification is required or pursued.
• Strong safety focus and meticulous attention to detail in field and lab work.
• Excellent plan reading skills for interpreting drawings and specs.
• Demonstrated technical ability in materials testing procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for teams and clients.
• Ability to work extended or nontraditional hours as needed.
• Ability to lift 50-75 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to complex sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, masonry, and asphalt in field and lab.
• Conduct concrete testing, inspection, soil testing to support QA on projects.
• Transport samples to the laboratory safely and promptly.
• Document field activities, test results, observations, and inspections electronically.
• Communicate testing needs and results with project personnel and contractors.
• Work with project team to ensure specs and quality requirements are met.
• Assist training and mentoring of junior staff as needed.
• Maintain strong safety focus and follow procedures and guidelines.
• Use plan reading to interpret drawings/specs for testing activities.
• Demonstrate aptitude with testing equipment and troubleshoot issues.
• Adapt to extended/nontraditional hours per project schedules.
• Operate vehicle safely to travel to sites and labs.
