Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Construction Materials Technician to inspect contractor work at construction sites and perform basic field soil and concrete tests under supervision. You will input test data in the field via smartphones/tablets for immediate transmission to Project Managers.

The role requires field mobility, accuracy in reporting, and the ability to work both independently and in teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior construction or field testing experience preferred.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to job sites.
• ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, WACEL, ICC certifications in soils/concrete/masonry are a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, safety rules and manuals.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and stand/walk throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Perform field testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, and concrete.
• Prepare detailed field reports with test results and observations.
• Conduct laboratory tests on soil and concrete and report results.
• Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and staff regarding construction issues.
