Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company is seeking a Construction Materials Technician to travel to construction sites and perform field soil and concrete tests under supervision. You will input inspection data on smartphones for immediate transmission to Project Managers.

Strong attention to safety and accuracy is essential. Responsibilities include field testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, and concrete; detailed reporting; and coordination with clients and engineering staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Prior construction or field testing experience preferred.
• ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, WACEL, or ICC certifications in soils, reinforced concrete, and masonry are a plus.
• Ability to read plans, specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds and travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Perform field materials testing of soil, asphalt, masonry, and concrete.
• Prepare detailed field reports with test results and observations.
• Perform laboratory tests on soil and concrete and prepare reports of results.
• Evaluate site and subgrade conditions and provide recommendations.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and engineering staff regarding construction issues.
