Job summary

Terracon in Wilmington, NC is seeking a Field and Laboratory Technician to perform testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.

You will prepare reports, communicate results to project managers and clients, transport samples, and maintain equipment while upholding strict safety standards. A driver’s license and relevant certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience or the equivalent in training and related experience.
• Experience with laptop computer use and Microsoft Word and Excel.
• A valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.
• Certifications in two or more of the following areas: NICET, ICC, AWS CWI, ASNT Level II, etc.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel).
• Communicate with project manager and others regarding site requirements and results.
• Transport material samples to the laboratory with identifying documentation.
• Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
• May assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians to project sites.
• Adhere to strict safety standards.
