Job summary

Certerra Southern Engineering in Charlotte, North Carolina has an immediate opening for a full-time entry level Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Technician. This role involves field and laboratory testing of construction materials, travel to client facilities as needed, and collaboration with Project Managers to ensure quality results.

The ideal candidate is early in their career with a safety-focused mindset, strong plan-reading skills, and solid math and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of construction materials testing experience
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification (preferred)
• ICC certifications (preferred)
• NCDOT certifications (preferred)
• A strong safety focus and attention to detail
• Excellent plan reading skills
• A demonstrated math and technical aptitude
• Flexibility to work extended or non-traditional hours as needed
• Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
• A High School diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving history

Responsibilities

• Field and laboratory testing of construction materials.
• Maintaining required certifications (ACI, ICC, NCDOT)
• Coordinating with clients and Project Managers.
• Travel to client facilities as needed
• Report writing and computer skills
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results.
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager.
• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM.
• Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks.
• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration.
• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects.
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
