Job summary

Certerra South, LLC. is seeking a full-time Field (level 1) Construction Materials Testing (CMT) technician in Houston, TX. This role supports a fast-paced consultant environment and requires collaboration with a team across geotechnical, environmental, and materials engineering services.

Ideal candidates will have 2–5+ years in CM testing, valid driver’s license, and a safety-focused mindset. Travel to client facilities is expected, with opportunities for growth and leadership within

Qualifications

• High safety focus and attention to detail
• Excellent plan reading skills
• Demonstrated math and technical aptitude
• Ability to pass an extensive background and drug screen
• Flexibility to work extended or non-traditional hours as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• State DOT certifications and/or NICET certifications preferred or willing to obtain within 1 year
• ICC Concrete and Soils Certifications preferred or willing to obtain within 1 year
• ACI Concrete Field-Testing Certification - must be willing to get within 1 year
• 2-5+ years of construction materials testing experience (preferred)
• High School diploma or equivalent
• A valid driver's license
• Training Available

Responsibilities

• Field and laboratory testing of construction materials
• Maintaining required certifications
• Coordinating with clients and Certerra/Insight Group engineering and professional state
• Travel to client facilities as needed
• Report writing and computer skills
• Provides clear documentation of findings and results
• Performs basic analysis of data to verify accuracy before communication and submittal to the Project Manager
• Communicates information to Project Manager and other personnel as directed by the PM
• Assists higher level technicians on complex tasks
• Maintains assigned equipment and related calibration
• Follows safety rules and practices and other safety requirements for all projects
• Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects
