Job summary

Thompson Engineering seeks a skilled Construction & Geotechnical Materials Field and Laboratory Technician to support local testing services in the Knoxville area. You will perform materials testing on soils, aggregates, concrete, and asphalt, in both field and laboratory settings, and participate in site observations to ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.

Role requires calibration and maintenance of testing equipment, detailed reporting, and collaboration with project

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Five years of construction materials testing experience required.
• ACI Level I Certification (or ability to obtain/renew) required for Field and Laboratory.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to read and write in English.
• Willingness to travel to various job sites as required.
• Experience with nuclear DOE-related projects a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily sampling and testing in the field and laboratory, safely and on schedule.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory and field testing equipment.
• Prepare and submit daily reports and documentation to project leadership.
• Observe construction activities and record performance data accurately.
• Maintain daily diaries of activities and ensure quality standards.
