Job summary

Intertek is hiring a Building Products Field/Lab Test Technician to join the Building & Construction team in Plano, Texas. This entry-level role supports testing projects under supervision and requires travel up to 50% of the time.

The position involves setting up tests, tracking specimens, analyzing results, and preparing concise reports while learning standards such as AAMA, ASTM and NFPA. A high school diploma with mechanical aptitude is required; an Associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to understand test procedures, specs and results
• Familiarity with QA policies for test specimens
• General construction/carpentry knowledge and familiarity with power tools
• Physical ability to lift 50 pounds and perform site tasks
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time and follow directions under supervision

Responsibilities

• Manage entry level testing projects under supervision until signed off
• Track and condition test specimens
• Set up/mount and perform standard tests per specifications
• Check calibration status of test equipment before testing
• Analyze results and write concise test reports
• Learn test standards and procedures (AAMA, ASTM, NFPA, etc.)
• Maintain tools, equipment, and work area cleanliness
