Job summary

Intertek seeks a Field & Laboratory Technician I-B for its Building & Construction team in Harlingen, TX. This role combines hands-on field testing with laboratory work on concrete, aggregates, and soils for transportation, commercial, and infrastructure projects in the Rio Grande Valley.

The ideal candidate holds ACI Level 1 and Grade I certifications, with 1+ year of construction materials testing experience and the ability to travel locally.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one (1) year of construction materials testing experience or related laboratory experience.
• ACI Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1 Certification (Required).
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I Certification (Required).
• Experience performing both field and laboratory testing of aggregates, concrete, soils, or related construction materials.
• Ability to accurately collect, record, and report test data.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to project sites as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in both laboratory and outdoor construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing on construction materials including concrete, aggregates, and soils.
• Conduct concrete field tests such as slump, air content, temperature, and cylinder fabrication.
• Perform aggregate testing in accordance with ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO standards.
• Support laboratory operations through sieve analysis, moisture content, specific gravity testing, and other evaluations.
• Maintain testing equipment and instruments and accurately document/report results.
• Communicate findings to project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
