Job summary

Constellis is seeking a Canine Trainer in Moyock, NC to enhance odor detection for EDC, NDC, ETDC canines using operant and classical methods. The role develops customized training plans for each canine team within the region and supports handlers in field environments, including high-density transit venues.

You will participate in weekly skills and maintenance training, prepare certifications and document progress.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of experience training canines in explosive detection or ETD methods.
• Canine certifications preferred, but not required.
• Experience solving training problems with detection dogs.
• Must have a valid US driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Able to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather and travel up to 35%.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate student progress and mentor Handlers in all areas of academic progress.
• Prepare Handler tests and evaluations to measure progress and reinforce search patterns and TTPs.
• Prepare and conduct certifications for NDC, EDC and ETDC.
• Develop and follow training protocols per SOPs and statements of work.
• Develop remedial training for Canine Handlers and/or canines.
• Document training with weekly training logs, monthly summaries, and video uploads.
• Train and manage multiple canines through training to certification and deployments.
• Arrange exercises to replicate real-life scenarios in high population density environments.
• Maintain safety equipment and secure training aids, vehicles, and assets.
• Travel up to 35% to contract locations nationwide.
