Job summary

Ecotal is seeking a hands-on Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support integration, deployment, and lifecycle management of industrial instrumentation, electrical, and control systems in a safety-critical nuclear environment.

You will work as a technical integrator, translating design intent into field-ready systems while collaborating with vendors, technicians, and operations to ensure compliant, reliable performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience with industrial electrical, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Experience with PLCs and HMI; knowledge of Siemens/Allen-Bradley platforms.
  • Familiarity with Modbus, TCP/IP, Profinet, or Ethernet/IP networks.
  • Ability to work with vendors, integrators, technicians in commissioning/operations.
  • Experience in safety-critical, regulated environments (nuclear, oil & gas, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Define functional requirements for PLCs, HMIs, remote I/O, motor controllers, VFDs, and safety devices.
  • Review vendor deliverables and ensure technical adequacy.
  • Oversee PLC/HMI logic design and ensure modular, testable systems.
  • Integrate electrical, instrumentation, and automation in cohesive architectures.
  • Identify opportunities to automate manual processes to improve reliability.
  • Field deployment, wiring, and commissioning support.
  • Lead SAT/FAT, loop checks, and startup activities; troubleshoot issues.
  • Maintain configuration management and as-built documentation.
  • Interface between internal teams, vendors, and contractors for safety and quality.
