Job summary

Summit in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector (All Levels) to assist in inspecting roadways and structures, perform measurements, and prepare project estimates. The role requires reading plans, testing materials, and maintaining detailed reports in a field setting.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, have strong math skills, and are proficient with iPad and Office tools. Ability to work outdoors, drive professionally, and lift up to 50 pounds is expected.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Able to read roadway, bridge and structure plans and contract specs.
• Proficient with iPad and Microsoft Office suite (Outlook/Dropbox/OneDrive).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Ability to perform field testing and maintain detailed reports.
• Ability to work outdoors, walk uneven terrain, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Inspect roadways and structures under supervision and perform calculations.
• Collect materials samples, weigh tickets, and conduct tests to specs.
• Take field measurements and calculate contract pay quantities.
• Read plans and blueprints to verify work.
• Maintain daily records and prepare monthly project estimates.
• Coordinate with agency personnel and contractors.
