Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site inspector to support our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection group at multiple project locations across the United States. The role focuses on inspections, plan interpretation, and ensuring quality control per contract requirements.

You will work under supervision from higher level inspectors and engineers, gaining real-world field experience and contributing to project success. Travel up to 40% may be required depending on assignments.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction plans and specs.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel 20%–40%.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials.
• Review daily reports and assess contractor work, verify QC procedures and material testing against plan.
• Review material testing results for conformance and measure quantities of materials placed.
• May perform sampling and in-place testing of soils, aggregates, concrete and asphalt.
