Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an on-site field inspector to support highway construction projects in a Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection environment. You will perform inspections, review contractor QC, and ensure plans, specifications and safety requirements are met on active sites.

The role requires the ability to read construction plans, basic arithmetic, and proficiency with Microsoft Office; a valid driver's license is essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or NICET/ACI in earthwork, asphalt and concrete as required.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 2 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections of traffic control, environmental controls, layout, construction methods and materials, and all issues concerning the construction of a project under direct supervision.
• Review and recommend the acceptance or rejection of daily contractor reports and verify QC procedures and material testing.
• Review material testing procedures/results for conformance and measure quantities; may perform sampling and in‑place testing.
