Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an inspector to join our Transportation Construction, Engineering and Inspection team on-site at project locations. The role involves performing complex and routine highway construction inspections, reviewing plans, and ensuring conformance to specs while traveling to various sites.

You will document inspection results, communicate findings to supervision, and may lead and train junior inspectors as assigned, all while maintaining safety and quality on projects.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Certifications from a State Highway Agency or National Entity such as ACI or NICET in earthwork, asphalt, and concrete if required by the client or jurisdiction.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Equivalent additional related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required with travel frequency dependent on duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex and routine inspections to verify materials and methods.
• Use equipment and perform calculations for construction inspection.
• Work under supervision appropriate to demonstrated knowledge.
• Review drawings to prepare for inspection.
• Document results and communicate findings to the supervisor.
