Job Overview

High school John Champe is seeking a Field Hockey Coach for the Fall season, from August to November.

Roles and Responsibilities

1. Assist in maintaining high academic standards for all student athletes.
2. Support the athletic director and principal in hiring and retaining assistant coaches.
3. Direct, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches regularly.
4. Work with the athletic director to ensure proper insurance coverage for athletes.
5. Collaborate with other head coaches to operate a balanced athletic program.
6. Promote sportsmanship, a desire to win, and pride among participants and spectators.
7. Oversee training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team and assist assistant coaches.
8. Act as a positive influence on the athletic staff and teams.
9. Be present at all varsity contests and as many junior varsity and freshmen contests as possible, including invitational meets and postseason competitions.
10. Advise the athletic director on scheduling, officials, equipment, and facility needs.
11. Ensure all athletes pass medical examinations before practices begin.
12. Organize recruitment and development of team support staff such as equipment managers and statisticians.
13. Maintain records, statistics, news, and photographs of teams.
14. Recommend athletes for varsity letters and other awards.
15. Observe sub varsity practices and games.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or athletic director.

Qualifications

1. Experience in coaching or participation in high school or college level of the sport.
2. CPR and First Aid certification or enrollment in such courses.
3. Preferred experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools.
4. Preferred Virginia Teaching License or full-time classified employment in Loudoun County Public Schools.
